MACIEJ PIKULSKI
Soloist, chamber musician and acclaimed as the world’s number one collaborator, Maciej Pikulski has performed alongside leading singers and musicians in over three hundred concert halls across five continents. He graduated in piano, chamber music and vocal accompaniment at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, where he won the France Telecom Foundation Award.
Together with the bass-baritone José van Dam he has performed numerous recitals in theaters such as Carnegie Hall, New York; La Scala Theater, Milan; Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels; Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; Colón Theater, Buenos Aires; Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Paris. With Renée Fleming he has performed in recitals in the Salle Pleyel, Paris; Musikverein, Vienna; Grand Theater de Genève; Barbican Hall, London; Festspielhaus, Baden-Baden; Dublin Concert Hall; Rudolfinum, Prague. Thomas Hampson, Natalie Dessay, Diana Damrau, Elina Garanca, Nicolas Testé, Dame Felicity Lott, Luca Pisaroni, Aida Garifulina, Maria Bayo, Sumi Jo, Anna-Caterina Antonacci, Laurent Naouri, Joseph Calleja, Patricia Petibon, Angelika Kirschlager and others.
A pupil of Dominique Merlet and Clive Britton (the latter disciple of the legendary Claudio Arrau), Maciej Pikulski presented himself as a soloist in F. Liszt’s “Totentanz”; “Rhapsody in Blue” by G. Gershwin in the Música em Trancoso Festival, Brazil; Concerto in F major by G. Gershwin at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sala São Paulo, Brazil; Concert No. 2 by S. Rachmaninov in Logroño, Spain; Concerto no.5, “The Emperor” by L. van Beethoven in Biarritz, France; Concerto No. 2 by F. Chopin in Olsztyn, Poland. He has performed numerous solo piano concerts in Uruguay, Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Poland and Belgium.
Maciej Pikulski has recorded 16 CDs and DVDs and made masterclasses in Paris, London, Rome, Vienna, Brussels, Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Washington, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, São Paulo, Manilla and Warsaw. He teaches Accompaniment and Vocal Chamber Music at the Conservatory of the Centro Superior de Musica in San Sebastián, Spain.
The specialized critics have acclaimed Maciej Pikulski for his “poetic sensibility” (Globe and Mail of Toronto) and “mighty technique” (The New York Times), have defined and hailed him as a “magnificent musician” (Le Figaro, Paris) , “Great Pianist” (Il Corriere della Sera, Milan) and “the magician of the piano” (Ritmo).
